This week marked a huge milestone at our American Academy Lincoln Meadows project in Parker: the topping out. The topping out is a momentous occasion because it is placing the last piece of structural steel in the building, and denotes substantial progress towards completion.
“We’ve been here 18 weeks,” said Haselden Project Manager Justin Fahnestock at the topping out ceremony. “We’ve got 16 weeks to go. Believe it or not, you’ll have your school on August 7th!”
The American Academy Dream Team
This is the third project that Haselden, Cuningham Group (architect), and Inline Management (the owner’s representative) have worked on together for American Academy. The first two schools—American Academy Castle Pines and American Academy Motsenbocker—have been wildly successful, and have lottery waitlists because of the high enrollment demand. This third endeavor, American Academy Lincoln Meadows, is set to be another outstanding project by this dream team!
Located on South Twenty Mile Road, the campus will host 770 PK-6 students for the 2017-2018 year, growing to over 1,000 PK-8 students by the 2019-2020 school year. The three-story charter school stands at approximately 94,000 SF and houses a gym and cafeteria in addition to numerous classroom spaces.
Gardner Clute, Project Manager at Cuningham Group, stated, “You’ve got such a great team here with Haselden doing a great job bringing this project in. It’s really exciting to be here today and see the project at this point. I just want to thank the Haselden team, Jen and Steve with American [Academy] have been great helping us get here, and Kurt – our owner’s rep. Thank you everybody, it’s exciting to be here!”
Of course, we have to give a shout-out to the other team members that made this scheduling feat possible! Thank you to KL&A (structural engineer), Drake Williams Steel (steel fabricator), and Derr & Gruenewald Construction (steel erector)!
