University of Colorado Boulder Engineering Center Phase 1A RenovationUniversity of Colorado Boulder
This renovation to CU Boulder’s Engineering Center included a complete gut and reconfiguration of the interior, a new primary below grade entry, a new entry plaza and main approach walks, and a complete re-roof of the building.
Due to the sensitivity of the experiments ongoing in the building, the re-roof operation proved to be very complicated, but was successfully completed thanks to the collaborative environment fostered between CU, Haselden, and the design team.
Close coordination with the University was required for any outage requests associated with the project. These outage requests were detailed to ensure that the end suers had all requisite information related to the closure or shutdown to provide to the students and faculty. This was particularly critical so as to not impact vital experiments that were ongoing through the course of construction. As a result of close coordination between the Haselden team and the University, Haselden was able to maintain strict compliance with the University’s Mechanical Engineer to ensure timely occupancy despite complexities of providing a new mechanical system in an existing structure.
