Haselden Completes Expansion of Fitzgeralds Casino
Renovation focused on preserving historic buildings in downtown Black Hawk

DENVER, CO, August 5, 2008 – Haselden Construction recently completed a two-phase, 32,000 square foot expansion of Fitzgeralds Casino in Black Hawk. The Haselden team expanded the casino’s gaming area, dining and nightlife destinations, banquet rooms and administrative offices.

Careful planning ensured that new construction did not diminish but enhanced the nostalgic charm of some of the oldest documented structures on the Front Range. Several historic buildings, most notably the old Rohling Inn built in the 1860’s, were combined into a single structure. Haselden also restored the front facade of the historic bank and post office buildings. The construction team made a discovery that was not surprising, considering the area’s history: Remnants of a former gold mine were unearthed during the renovations.
